Drawing of a woman sitting in a chair holding a parasol, initialed by the artist Carl Nordstrom in the lower right corner. Nordstrom (1876-1965) was a prominent artist known for his paintings of the scenic Cape Ann, Massachusetts area. He was Director of the Nordstrom Summer School in East Gloucester for several years, in addition to being a member of the Boston Art Club, the Gloucester Society of Artists, and the North Shore Arts Association at Rockport. Nordstrom studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School with Eric Pape, Charles Emerson, Harold Brett, and George Noyes. Born in Chelsea, MA, he later settled in Ipswich and kept a studio in Gloucester for many years. This drawing measures 24.5 inches tall by 19 inches wide, and is part of a lot of drawings of similar size and quality that came directly from the family estate of the artist. There is some minor wear and tear to the edges of the paper as shown, but the piece is in otherwise good condition.
