It has gorgeous original Fortuny fabric upholstery, which is some of the world's finest quality printed fabric. Mariano Fortuny (1871-1949) was a Spanish inventor, designer, and artist who worked in Venice. In 1906, Fortuny and Henriette Negrin, his wife and collaborator, opened the Fortuny factory. This world-renowned factory, which is built on the grounds of an old convent, honors the founder's wishes specified in his will that the method of production used to create the iconic textiles are never to be publicly revealed. These meticulous practices have resulted in Fortuny fabrics being showcased in museums across the world, including an extensive collection at the MET. This chair measures approximately 27 inches wide by 26 inches deep by 38 inches tall, and is in great condition.
