19th Century Lemaire Paris Enameled Opera Glasses
Charming pair of gilt bronze enameled opera glasses made in the 19th century by the French manufacturer Lemaire of Paris and then imported by Andrew J. Lloyd Company, opticians in Boston. The binoculars depict two sets of couples lounging on benches, and have mother-of-pearl on the center focus as well as the eye cups, which aslo bear the names of the manufacturer and retailer. The bridge is marked "Made in France, 519" and stamped with a bee, the company's logo. There is some wear consistent with the age of the piece as shown in the pictures, but the glasses are in overall great condition. The opera glasses measure 4 inches wide by 1.5 inches deep by 2.75 inches tall.
